Idle Smart: APU Rebate Program for Tennessee Truckers
$1.73M in Funds Given on First-Come, First-Served Basis

ClimaCab, the electric APU that helps drivers attain 3% idle times, thought you would like to know how to get 50% off an APU.

Idle Smart is a new state program offered by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation to help small trucking companies and independent owner-operators reduce engine idling, save money and reduce air pollution.

APU rebates, up to a maximum of $4,000 per truck, are available to Tennessee common, contract and private motor carriers with 30 or fewer trucks.  Priority will be given to fleets with 5 or fewer trucks.  Eligible truck owners may receive up to 50% of the cost of purchasing and installing qualified APUs on their sleeper berth trucks.

Eligible applicants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis while rebate funds last.  The $1.73 million in funding must be spent by September 2010.  Funding recipients will be required to report data at a regular frequency, which will allow the state to calculate actual fuel savings and actual emissions reductions for each truck.
